Radio Hall
In a hallway or in a room, body mass and light interference play the waves of hidden AM transmitters fighting for dominance on the speakers. Guests are invited to turn on and off lights and monitors to affect the waves. The signal transmitted is picked up and sent back through a feedback setup that alters the sound before being rebroadcast.
Racecar shuttle
Timed with the journey, stops, and turns of the shuttle, the sounds of a formula 1 racecar revving and skidding around corners, ending in a horrific crash creates a jubilant sense of auditory hallucination. On the shuttle back, however, the engine backfires and rattles until a hubcap and then the muffler fall off and roll away.
David, or as his friends know him, daybe, is part of the international underground noise scene, playing immersive feedback manipulation as “some pepper” and unique avant-lounge songs as “Charmaine’s Names” in various basements, churches, warehouses, and clubs since 2006. He has scored plays, video, and even lasertag, using mixers, compressors, delays, eqs, and anything else he can get his hands on. The philosophy behind his work involves emergent biological systems that naturally result from complex feedback systems.
