Santa Monica Blvd. began as a daily journal using 16mm motion picture film loaded into 35mm film canisters and shot with either a vintage Nikon FE2 or FA. I sometimes used a motor drive for a motion picture effect and often hand advanced the film instead for a more subliminal effect. As I could not send the film to a commercial lab (or wanted to explain myself), I hand processed the film periodically. This produced weird effects and errors which add to the monochrome psychedelic experience.
Glen Golightly is a writer and businessman residing in San Pedro, California. His careers have included stints as an Army officer, journalist, filmmaker and bridal boutique owner. His current projects include writing a poetry chapbook and developing a short art film based on a poem. He is an only child and wakes up every morning thinking the universe revolves around him only to be proven wrong by the end of the day before the cycle begins anew.
