John O’Neill

PARTICIPATION

On-site event June 7th

Wind Cube is a sculpture consisting of a 1′ cube made from zinc-plated all-thread rods wrapped in fabric mesh skin, a base plate hiding ten tunable oscillators, electromagnetic pickups with “sails” suspended within the cube from the mesh, a plinth for the cube and an amplifier on the ground. The movement of the pickups across the oscillator base (and therefore the change in amplified pitch) is determined by the ambient air movement where/whenever the sculpture is installed. The sculpture is interactive if viewers change the ambient air movement by either blocking or producing wind.
