PARTICIPATION
“Lack of Resonance” is a sound-performance that collects audience conversations and observations to transform them into a projected collection of texts.
During the event, an operative will roam the grounds with a walkie talkie “covertly” collecting audience soundbites and transmitting them to a stationary recorder. The recorder will make alterations as they type, and the scrolling text will be projected on a small screen at a stationary location. If names are used in a conversation, they will appear as (person) not as a proper name on the screen. This cycle of extrapolation and output will run for the duration of the event. Lack of Resonance explores the concepts of audio surveillance, privacy, verbal misinterpretation, and public spaces.
