Residue Remains
Found speakers frame the San Fernando Valley as a storage basin, holding water diverted from the Owens River through the Los Angeles Aqueduct, completed between 1908 and 1913. Competing field recordings of natural and engineered sound converge, like fragments of found footage stitched from a landscape designed to perform for its modern inhabitants. The soundscape is dissonant, reflecting extraction and displacement, a hum of control that remains unresolved. What lingers? What flows?
