Wind Chimes
transducers—referencing the “angelic” and “peaceful” outro. Catching low-velocity breezes to produce the “tinkle” and “whispering” sounds described in the lyrics.
Visuals: The chimes would be near-translucent, appearing to “breathe” with the wind.
Mechanism: When a threshold of light is hit, the strikers hit dissonant metal tubes referencing the “angelic” and “peaceful” outro.
Experience and Meaning: The piece serves as a “musical mosaic” of nature, where the viewer’s perspective changes based on environmental conditions.
Meditative Observation: Reflecting Brian’s own habit of watching chimes out of a window until they became a source of obsession, the installation would be placed in a quiet grove where viewers are encouraged to “close your eyes and lean back”.
Enlightenment: Much like the river in H. Hesse’s Siddhartha (a known influence on Wilson), the “whispering voices”.
