Sight of Sound: Collaborative Light Painting with Sound Driven Lasers
This project invites participants to focus on seeing rather than hearing as they create visual art through sound. Sound is converted into light patterns by bouncing laser light off mirrors mounted on rubber membranes which vibrate in response to sound. Participants can try out different instruments and voices to create vibrations traced out by their uniquely colored laser on a collaborative canvas. As different tones and frequencies produce unique patterns, the art is in the spontaneous mix of people making noise.
Zagla is a group of tech workers, burnt out by the current state of our industry. We view art and imagination as a path forward for a better world and create projects to connect to others and destress ourselves. Our mission is to foster creativity, build community, and provide technical solutions to local artists in the Los Angeles area.
