Hollywood Johnny is one of many aliases of the Earth’s greatest mistake; Johnathan Cash (they/he), also known as Breakdancing Ronald Reagan, Sunk Cost, and many more. Their work has been categorized as a reformed edgelord punishing themself for the follies of growing up in the internet age; an amorphous blob of low-tech distortion engaging in the breaking of obscenity laws, Merzbow/Extreme Elvis collab, etc. When not performing solo and butchering the eyes and ears of those around them; they curate events in cities like Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago, Austin, and more; all of which involve performers of a similar loud, abrasive, unusual nature.

The Hollywood Johnny Experience is a curated collection of micro-performances by artists from SoCal & beyond who specialize in Sound Art, Extreme Performance, Absurdist Comedy, Harsh Noise, and Abstract Sonics. It is a fest-within-a-fest (within a fest!). There will be 10 performances of 10 minutes each inside of a 3 hour span – with abstract anti-music anti-DJing between the performances to fill the space with sound at all times. Past performers included Ustam, Eggm, Soiled Doilies, Nihilanon, Insufficient Despair, and more.

I book large scale events of a Noise/Performance Art variety and I’d like to put together one in a tiny space, possibly sectioned off by stanchions, but bill it as a “Noise fest” inside of Soundpedro. 10 artists (myself included), 10ish min each performances, curated by myself. With the addition of stanchions, i see this less as a show with a crowd and more of a noise zoo for people to gawk at. It’d be a lineup of artists (Blotchouts Dual Guitar Duel, Breakdancing Ronald Reagan, Christian Lovers, Eggm, Hen of the Woods, Hexpressionist, Insufficient Despair, Nihilanon, Ritual Chair, Soiled Doilies) similar to my own body of work.
