Wood, Wind, Shell, Skin, Stone, Brass, Plastic, Electricity: Ancient to Future Sounds and Soundscapes
As Boom Duo we struggle with the Western concept of song form, recognizing an alternative to ‘music’ as sound art based in texture and tone, an ancient, often shamanic, approach to soundscape.  We use traditional and modern instruments to explore the present of what it means to be us, here and now, in the context of a musical, political and spiritual history.  We ask “Where is here?”, we ask “If not now, when?”, we reflect on “Who are we?” with ancient, modern and future sounds using wood, wind, shell, skin, stone, brass, plastic, and electricity to hopefully bring a realization to ourselves and a listening audience.

Boom Duo is composed of John Lacques playing drum set, hand drums, gamelan, gongs, bells, and small instruments, and Noah Thomas playing trumpets, conch shells, theremin, analog synthesizers, rocks and pebbles, tape deck, samplers, keyboards and effects pedals.
