Chthonic Fatigue Syndrome (ChthFS)
Chthonic Fatigue Syndrome’ is an infomercial from the future, of invented illnesses, light language, and Nü Age body aesthetics framed by eerie black and white infrared thermal (IRT) video. Underworld spa enthusiasts Marne Lucas and Tyler Hubby explore capitalist wellness culture of the Chthonic realm (pronounced “thonic”) where one may bask in the darkness of their soul while their skin absorbs soothing ancient mud sourced from ancient funeral pyre charcoal. Using heat-sensitive military imaging technology, actual bodily heat signatures appear white, and cold or wet areas are black. Filmed in Maui, Hawaii and Portland, Oregon, featuring Cara Griffin, Marne Lucas, and Kate Thompson.

Tyler Hubby‘s feature documentary, ‘Tony Conrad: Completely in the Present’ was called “a canonical work of cinema”, touring worldwide with live performances by Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth; Imaad Wasif & Nick Zinner, Animal Collective & Matmos; Stephen O’Malley (Sunn O))). A graduate of SFAI (film, photography) his subversive, irreverent short films screened internationally.
