PARTICIPATION
When you hold a seashell to your ear, it is said that you can hear the ocean. What if the ocean also heard you? In Seascape, a set of seashells have been traveling, collecting stories along the way. Now they have washed ashore in Southern California, ready to share the stories they have and receptive to whatever new stories await to be told here. As an interactive sound installation, participants are able to pick up the seashells, and—by putting them close to their ears—they will hear the collection of stories these seashells hold. The shells will also be listening, ready to record anything the participants might want to share, and will then add these new stories to the collection of recordings.
MicDrop is Mike and Rae. Together they explore ideas and technologies that capture personal stories and allow others to witness these stories, experience these stories, and contribute stories of their own in turn.
