Oversound (sonic bath at Angels Gate)
Oversound, a Sonic Bath Installation is a collaboration between sound artist and musician Kayla McIntyre and filmmaker David Kelley. Combining live accompaniment, field recording, foley, synth, documentary video, and photorealistic AI-generated sequences, the work takes the form of a fractured sound bath where city and sea meet in San Pedro. Port labor, engines, propellers, helicopters, buses, underwater whale coda, and marine industrial noise polution move through a contained directional sound field, evoking a woman’s acoustic jpurney through devotion, labor, and disturbance. Staged against the concrete military remains of Angels Gate, the work is an acoustic-visual journey through the built environment and the ocean.
